The South American Tapir, Tapirus terrestris, Brazilian Tapir, Lowland Tapir. It is the largest native terrestrial mammal in the Amazon.  Sniffing with its flexible snout and exhibiting the Flehmen response to better smell.  Tapirs spend the hottest part of the day in water to regulate their body temperature.  Emperor Valley Zoo, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
