Newspaper Rock is one of the largest collections of ancient Native American petroglyphs in the entire southwest. Its more than 650 figures were created by several different cultures over thousands of years and depicts people, animals, materials and geometric designs carved into the black desert varnish of a Wingate sandstone wall. It is a Utah State Historical Monument and is located in the Indian Creek Unit of the Bears Ears National Monument southeastern Utah.
