The Guanaco, Lama guanicoe, is a camelid native to the mountainous regions of South America. They are found in the altiplano of Peru, Bolivia and Chile and in the Patagonian regions of Argentina and Chile, where they are most numerous. They are one of the largest wild mammal species found in South America. Torres del Paine National Park, Chile, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve since 1978.
